With less than 18 months remaining before the B2B e-invoicing mandate takes effect, the Belgian government has released a detailed FAQ to guide companies through this critical transition.

Recent updates have featured similar news: a new version of the PPF technical specifications in France and updated specifications for XRechnung and XBestellung in Germany. These resources aim at providing comprehensive information to companies nationwide regarding the upcoming e-invoicing mandates.

Now it’s Belgium’s turn, with the Federal Public Service Finance releasing guidelines to help companies better understand the B2B e-invoicing mandate, which is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2026.

These guidelines are presented in a FAQ section, providing useful information on the following topics:

  • What is an electronic invoice?
  • Cases where e-invoicing becomes mandatory
  • International invoicing
  • Technical rules
  • Summary of the e-invoicing mandates in Belgium
  • Additional information (Peppol, EN16931, resources, …)
