ECOFIN Agenda 21.6.2024
ECOFIN Agenda 21.6.2024
Following the previously failed attempt to reach political agreement on the updated ViDA package on 154.5.2024, the upcoming ECOFIN on 21.6.2024 is set to complete the task.

Under the Belgian presidency, the European Council renewed its focus on promoting digitalization in the European Union. The Agenda for the next meeting on 21.6.2024 of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council prominently features the objective (again) to finally seek political agreement on the VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) package.

The Agenda Item made it right to the top this time, after having failed to reach the required unanimous agreement in the first instance at the last ECOFIN in May 2024. Since this will conclude the Belgian presidency in the first half on 2024, there is quite some political urgency behind this, in particular for Belgian Minister of Finance, Vincent van Peteghem.

Stay tuned for further updates and analysis next week!
